Breakfast: 2 turkey link sausages, 1 whole wheat waffle, small coffee
Snack: None (forgot)
Lunch: Lean ham on wheat with honey mustard, baked doritos, mandarin orange fruit cup, carrots (I had a very orange lunch)
Snack: Slimfast
Dinner: Salmon, grilled veggies, seasoned rice, wheat bread and 1 glass of sweet tea
Workout: 5 min warmup on stair machine, 1 hour rock bottom class. Apparently our trainer was mad at someone and took it out on us. WOW what a workout!
So after my workout class, I get a call from my mother and she wants to go out for dinner. I suggest my favorite place Long Horn - where I know I can get the salmon and veggies. When my plate comes, I immediately cut my salmon and rice in half and put it in a to go box. I will have that for lunch tomorrow. My mother was very impressed with my willpower!! And, I only had one glass of tea.

Breakfast: Oatmeal, fruit yogurt small coffee

Lunch: Progresso High Fiber Minestrone soup with "Hint of Salt" Ritz crackers, prunes and water
Snack: Trailmix (FiberOne cereal, almonds, raisins, craisins, dried pineapple
Dinner: Bronzed tilapia, canned corn, sauteed green beans an water
I had a late breakfast due to some blood tests I had scheduled first thing this morning.
I did 10 minutes on the elliptical, 4 sets of 10 reps on the pulldown lat machine, 2 sets of 10 reps on the bicep machine and a 1 hour abs class.
I made the mistake of not eating until after my class, which was about 9pm. I'll have to figure out how to eat before my late classes.
I've been having problems with my stomach and think it is due to the multi-vitamins. I'm going to skip those until I figure out what's wrong.

WOW - It's lonely here!
I'm feeling pretty lonely out here. No one comments anymore, I hope somebody's listening! Anyhoo, here goes:
This weekend was pretty good. My grandson spent the weekend with me which means we're having McDonalds at least once! On Friday, we did some running around and instead of picking up fast food, I explained to him that I'm eating healthier and we will fix something at home. Of course, he was disappointed, but I made italian seasoned grilled chicken, veggies and brown rice. He really liked it and actually had two helpings of rice!
We got up the next day and headed to the YMCA. He got dropped off in the daycare while I jumped on the eliptical for 15 minutes or so. I then did 4 sets of 10 reps on the lat pulldown and 2 sets of 10 on the bicept machine. I then thought it would be a good idea to set in on a new abs class called "Killer Core". I should have been worried when the first part of the title had Killer in it. The class was very hard, but I made it through. I paid for it on Sunday and Monday.

What a Discouraging Week!
This week started off bad and got worse! I wasn't feeling well on Monday so I didn't go to work. I called and made an appointment to weigh in and found out I had only lost 2 pounds. 2 pounds! How could that be? I've been eating better and getting more exercise than I have in years! I've given up soda and drink mostly water. I've cut waaaay back on the fast foods and eat a lot of veggies and whole grain. Ughhhhhh!
Ok tantrum over. If I'm going to make my goal of 10 pounds I have to look at what could be holding me back:
1. I'm eating well, but maybe too much of a good thing. I'm going to pay more attention to my portions. Today instead of eating a whole sandwich, I only ate half (and I still felt full).
2. I'm exercising 4-5 days a week, but I'm doing classes and not bootcamp. While the classes are not easy, maybe I'm not getting enough of the aerobic exercise I need. So, I plan to do the DVD that Lyle gave us 3 days a week in the mornings before work in addition to my classes at the Y in the evenings.
3. I'm still not eating breakfast before work. That's causing me to cram my meals into a smaller window of time. I'm going to try to have breakfast at 6, snack at 9, lunch at 12, 2nd snack at 3, dinner at 6 and last snack around 8 (if needed)since I ususally go to bed around 10. This should spread out my meals more evenly. Right now I eat breakfast around 8, snack around 10 and lunch at 12. That's too close.
4. I'm on target with my multi-vitamins and vinegar - so no problems there.
I just need to re-group and re-start. It's not too late! My goal is still within reach and my faith is renewed!

Weekend Update
Well, another weekend, another missed opportunity to take control. The weekend started off well enough, on Friday I had my breakfast and snacks as usual. I had a class at the YMCA after work, but when I came home, my husband was working on something in the yard, so I decided to pitch in - although I was worn out from working and working out! We didn't get finished until almost 9pm! By that time, I was starving and decided to "REWARD" myself with some McDonalds. As I've said in the past, when I let myself get hungry I make bad eating decisions. So off to Micky D's I went. The only positive thing was I did manage to get an iced tea instead of a soda. I have to stop looking at fast food as some type of reward instead of the punishment it actually is.
On Saturday I woke up late, and had a quick breakfast of yogurt and wheat waffles. I ended up running around shopping with my mother and sister. We planned to go to my favorite restaurant Long Horn, where I know I can get a meal of salmon and grilled veggies. Well, when we got there, the restaurant had closed down! So, we went to a buffet around the corner - Golden Corral. If you like down home southern-style foods it's a great place. If you're trying to watch what you eat, not so much. I ended up with a plate of pot roast, fried shrimp, mashed potatoes, soda and other stuff I can't remember. I know I didn't eat as much as I used to at a buffet, but I was uncomfortably full. Luckily, we had more shopping and walking to do. That meal ended up being my lunch and dinner for Saturday.
Sunday, I puttered around the house doing laundry and housework. I got my breakfast in, and decided on rotisserie chicken for dinner. I also picked up some sweet rolls and made come candied sweet potatoes. I bought a pumpkin pie, but haven't eating it yet. I think I'll take it to work for my coworkers!

Friday 9/18/09 - Meals
Breakfast: Oatmeal, apple juice, small coffee
Snack: None
Lunch: Deli chicken on wheat bread, green beans, fruit yogurt, apple sauce and water
Snack:None
Dinner: McDonalds (yuk)
I'm not feeling well today and I think it's because I jumped on the scale this morning and it said I was only down about 3 pounds. It fluctuates depending on when I weigh myself (which is why I normally only do it in the morning). That's really discouraging because I've been eating great and I worked out 4 days this week so far.
I know I'm very impatient, so I'm going to keep at it.

Thursday 9/17/09 Meals
Breakfast: 2 Eggo Whole Wheat Waffles, apple juice, small coffee
Snack: Fruit Yogurt
Lunch: Thai Stirfry with chicken and veggies (cabbage, onions, corn, green beans, mushrooms, carrots) w/ white rice & water
Snack: Slimfast & pineapples
Dinner: Burger King Grilled Chicken Sandwich w/lettuce & tomato (no mayo), canned corn and water
Multi-vitamin, B-12, Flaxseed Oil & Vinegar
Today was great! I wasn't prepared to go to lunch at a Thai food place, since I don't like Thai food. But some coworkers REALLY wanted me to go and so I went. I usually have a plan when I go out at lunch, so I don't get sidetracked, but I wasn't sure what I would order. I ended up going with the stir fry chicken and vegetables with steamed rice. It was pretty good and I didn't feel like I had made a bad decision. We were there almost an hour and I drank about 24 oz of water!
I've been so busy this week that I decided to eat out for dinner - fast food. So, I chose someplace I knew I could get my old standby - yup the grilled chicken sandwich. I wasn't happy with their choice of sides, so I just got the sandwich and fixed some corn at home and added a large glass of water. Yea me!
I had my abs class today and I was worried because my stomach is pretty sore from Tuesday's class. I should have been worried, because she showed us no mercy! I feel good that I finished the class. I've been doing so well this week, I'm really looking forward to next week!

Wednesday 9/16/09 Meals
Breakfast: 2 Eggo Whole Wheat Waffles (no syrup), Apple juice, small coffee
Snack: None
Lunch: 1/2 can Campbells Select Harvest Potato & Garlic Soup, fruit yogurt, mandarin oranges & Water
Snack: Slimfast & apple
Dinner: Teriyaki salmon, brown rice, mixed veggies and sweet tea
Multivitamin, B-12, flaxseed oil & vinegar
I did not like today's soup. Creamy soups are not good unless you get the regular full-fat version. I'll stick with my vegetable and minestrone soups!
Today was the first day of my lower body workout class at the YMCA called 'Rock Bottoms'. I thought it would just be a bunch of lunges, but it turned out to be very interesting and hard work. I was soaking wet within the first 5 minutes!
I realized I haven't been logging my multivitamins and vinegar all week. I've been taking them, I just forgot to put them on the blog. I'll do better!

Tuesday 9/15/09 Meals
Breakfast: Oatmeal, apple juice, 1/2 small coffee
Snack: trail mix (raisins, craisins, pecans & almonds)
Lunch: 1/2 grilled chicken breasts w/lettuce in a whole wheat half pita, carrots, 4 meatballs, 24 oz water
Snack: Fruit yogurt
Dinner: 2 oz salmon, Slim Fast & water
Today was our dept lunch. It was potluck, so everyone brought something in. I made meatballs in BBQ sauce. When I got there, most of the food was fatty - chili cheese dip, pizzas, M&Ms, and pinwheels. I decided this morning that I would take my lunch as usual. I was able to participate in the luncheon, but I brought my own lunch. Some people made fun of me, and others admired my willpower. It wasn't too hard, I just thought about how far I've come and I didn't want to spoil it. Tomorrow is another dept luncheon at my favorite Chinese buffet. I've decided to skip the lunch at the buffet. I don't know if I would be able to hold out when I see so much of my favorite foods. Sometimes, you have to know your limitations!
Today was my first Abs class at the YMCA. It was a lot more intense than I thought, but fun.

Monday 9/14/2009 Meals
Breakfast: Oatmeal, 2 turkey link sausages, & coffee
Snack: None
Lunch: Lean roast beef on whole wheat, green beans, pineapple cup & water
Snack: Fruit Yogurt
Dinner: Boneless, skinless, grilled chicken breast; corn on cob, mixed veggies (carrots, cauliflower, zucchini, squash, green beans, kidney beans and red peppers)
So, today my old supervisor stops by after lunch to bring me a McDonald's apple pie. This is one of my favorite desserts! I haven't had any McDonald's for almost two weeks (other than coffee). Whenever I would go, I would grab him a pie (they were 2 for a $1) or some fries. When he went to drop it on my desk, I told him 'No thank you'! He couldn't believe it and tried 3 more times to leave the pie with me. I told him thanks, but there will be no more pie for me, and I suggested he give it to another employee. It would have been easier to take the pie (and probably eat it) and not risk hurt feelings (especially since he's a superior). I'll stop by later and explain why I couldn't take it. Now that I think about it, I may have been a little more forceful than I thought!
Note: I did stop by and talk to my old manager. I explained the program and what I was doing. He was very supportive and offered to bring me some edemame! Yea!

Weekend Update
Is the weekend gone already? My weekend started out busy and ended pretty quietly. I always have trouble maintaining my eating plans on the weekends and this one was no different. Friday, I got thrown for a loop when I realized I had a lunch meeting. I don't do well if I don't plan ahead. Well, I did great! We went to the Smokehouse (next to Annie Gunn's) and they have great food. I looked at the menu and all I saw were high fat sandwiches and salads. Sooo, I kept looking until I found what I was looking for - a grilled chicken sandwich! I got the grilled chicken w/honey mustard, baked Lays and Water. Usually when I go there, I get the prime rib sandwich. So I probably saved myself about 1,000 calories!
On Saturday, my daughter had her family weekend at Mizzou. I got up early and made a trip to the YMCA to get in a little workout just in case I overate. I made sure I had breakfast, but wasn't sure about dinner. We ended up going to a little pub, where I had- again - a grilled chicken sandwich! I did get some waffle fries, but they went very good and I didn't eat many (my husband ate most of them). On the down side, I did have 3 of his hot wings and a soda : ( I will say, we walked at least 3-4 miles around campus and it was hot. I did breakdown and buy myself a cool Mizzou hat (I can't believe I spend $20 on a hat)!
Sunday is my do nothing day and I didn't let myself down. I slept late, but I did get in breakfast. I snacked on sunflower seeds and fruit (no lunch) until dinner - which was Long John Silvers. I had the baked tilapia meal with veggies (green beans, carrots and zuccini) and corn on the cob. I also had a side of popcorn shrimp. And I had a giant sweet tea.
All-in-all I had a pretty good week. I guess the moral for this week is when in doubt, get a grilled chicken sandwich! Most fast food and sitdown places have on now - so it's a good standby. I'm mad at myself for the soda lapse - I was doing so good! But, I can't beat myself up, just keep going. I'm happy I haven't forgotten to take my vitamins or vinegar since we've started and I usually forget on the weekends.
Next week will be very interesting because I start two classes at the YMCA in addition to the book camp classes! Hopefully, this will kick up my weight loss a notch!

Thursday 9/10/2009 Meals
Well, today was going to be a challenging day. I knew I had meetings all day and a business lunch. I packed my lunchbox with my morning and afternoon snacks and also breakfast. I got up late and wasn't able to eat at home, although I did get my multi-vitamins and vinegar. I ate breakfast in my early meeting which ran almost up until lunch so I didn't get my morning snack.
Then came lunch. We went to my favorite Japanese restaurant where I normally get sushi (and they had the nerve to have an all-you-can-eat sushi special - Satan get behind me)! Everyone ordered sodas and tea, I stuck to my water. It's one of those places where they cook the food in front of you - so you get to see and smell everyone else's food! I ordered shrimp and chicken with veggies. It was so good! I also had fried rice (I love their fried rice), but it's not like the "ghetto rice" I normally get. After lunch, I was pretty full because I haven't been eating that much food at one time - now that I think back, I should have gotten a to-go box and put half the rice and chicken in there and eaten the rest. Tip for next time.
After work, I got home in time to change and go to boot camp. My sister and I decided to do the plus-size boot camp instead of the personal training - I think we made a mistake! In my mind, this should be a little easier than the regular boot camp or personal training -WRONG. I was so tired when I got home, I couldn't fix dinner. I actually had a fleeting thought of picking up some fast food, but I told my husband we were having soup for dinner. I bought cans of soup for those days when I didn't want to cook or just didn't want anything heavy. I couldn't eat the whole can, so I'll have the other half tomorrow! I am so happy with myself that I'm able to make good food choices and haven't fallen back into my old habits. I know it's only been a week, but it's been a great week. This weekend will be challenging because I'm going to Mizzou for a football game. I'll have to have my plans A & B ready!
Oh and I STILL have not had any soda. Yay me!
Breakfast: Oatmeal, grape juice & coffee
Lunch: Grilled shrimp & chicken with veggies, fried rice, and water
Snack: Slim-Fast
Dinner: Progresso High-Fiber Chicken Tuscany soup, Ritz "Hint of Salt" crackers and water
Muti-vitamins and vinegar
Note: Progresso has a new line of high fiber soups and they don't have a lot of preservatives. This flavor had broth, chicken, great northern beans, onions, tomatoes, celery, carrots, zucchini and spinach. A good source of fiber and veggies! Still a lot of sodium though :( I tried to make up for it with the low salt Ritz crackers.

Monday 9/7/09 Meals
So today was the big holiday. I didn't have any plans so I didn't have any food temptations. I ate OK during the day, but got off at dinner. I didn't go overboard, but I ate more than I should have and felt very uncomfortable afterwards.
Breakfast: Fiber One cereal with Milk, Grape juice, Water
Snack: Fruit yoguart
Lunch: Albacore tuna (packed in water) in a whole wheat pita with lettuce, Water
Dinner: 3 bbq chicken wings, 2 ears of sweet corn (no salt, no butter), baked beans, 2-3 glasses of sweet tea (decaf).
No evening snack as I was still pretty full. Looking over this, I didn't have a lot of food, but too much tea!
I'm feeling pretty good so far. I weighed myself today and it looks like I've already lost 2-3 pounds! That's very encouraging! I'm looking forward to working out next week.

Sunday 9/6/09 Meals
Today was the start of the holiday feasting. I made sure I had breakfast and lunch before going to a family bbq.
Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled (with evaporated milk), frozen fruit meadley (strawberried, black berries, blueberries), Med coffee, water
Lunch: 2.5 oz Lean roast beef; mixed vegetables
Dinner: 1 bbq chicken wing, 2 bbq ribs; 1 spoon baked mostaccoli, 1/2 spoon potato salad, 1 wheat roll; bowl of watermelon and strawberries, 16 oz bottle of water
Snack: 1 small slice of birthday cake
I was very happy that I was able to have 1 plate of food and the helpings were small. I did have a small piece of birthday cake, but I turned down the ice cream and had fresh fruit instead. I drank an entire bottle of water with my meal and turned down the soda. My family was very impressed, because I always have at least one soda. I'm happy to say I have not had any soda this entire week and have only had two glasses of sweet tea!

Saturday 9/5/09 Meals
Weekends are hard for me because of my schedule changing and sleeping later. I actually got up pretty early and hit the gym. I did 22 minutes on the elliptical machine (I put it on fat-burning mode). I burned 226 calories! I then did a few of the other machines. I then went home and had breakfast.
Breakfast: 2 egg white omlette, toast with 1 pat of butter, Med coffee, water
Lunch: Grilled chicken sandwich, side salad with lite Italian dressing, water
Dinner: Chicken with rice and beans soup, water
Multi-vitamins, vinegar
I wasn't able to fit in my snacks, but since I ended up having dinner pretty late, I was really happy with myself that I drove past McDonalds and came home and fixed a bowl of soup. I'm going to put together a snack pack with packs of tuna and salmon and some fruit cups to keep in my car for those times when I get caught away from home.
I'm still having trouble letting go of the coffee although I've switched to small and medium sizes. Hopefully, by next week I can cut down to just coffee on the weekends.

Friday 9/4/2009 Meals
Today was our fasting day and I did very well. I had grape juice at breakfast along with my multivitamins and vinegar. I started at 8pm on Thursday so I only had to go until 2pm on Friday. By then lunch was over and I was at work, so I just held on until 4pm. I felt great and didn't want to have anything heavy, so I grabbed a box of cereal.
Breakfast: Grape juice
Lunch: Apple juice
Snack: Small bowl of Raisin Bran (no milk)
Dinner: 2 slices veggie pizza and water

A picture and an epiphany
So, I decided to put up a picture on my blog and I started going thru my pc to find a picture. I had to go back over a year before I found a photo of myself! I'm normally the one taking the pictures and I hate to get my picture taken. After I found a few, I didn't like any of them because I think they make me look fat (it's actually my fat that makes me look fat). Then I realized I hate to get my picture taken because I'm never happy with the results. How sad that I have plenty of family gatherings with absolutely no pictures of me in them. That is so unfair for my children to look back and not see any family moment or happy times with their mother.
That is why I have to get fit 4 christ!

Fast food is the devil
Ok, so eating didn't go as planned today. I was supposed to have a business lunch and had already decided what to eat - grilled shrimp, veggies, brown rice. Lunch got cancelled. So, I decided to go out and get juice for tomorrow's fast and pick up a few items on the eating plan. Unfortunately, when I get hungry I make REALLY bad eating decisions and that's how I ended up at Chick-Fil-A. The plan was to grab a grilled chicken sandwich and side salad. (On a side note Chick-Fil-A is one of the best fast food places. Most of their entrees are under 450 calories). Of course when I got there the chicken strips and fries were calling my name - and I answered. I told myself "Well, Lyle wants us to eat like we normally do, and anyway I'm going to fast tomorrow, plus the eating plan starts next week and I won't be able to eat here anymore....." , you get the picture.
So the moral of this story is that I have to have a Plan A and a Plan B when Plan A goes out the window. Plan A is the eating plan Lyle gave us. Plan B will be to keep a couple cans of soup, some tuna and a Lean Cuisine at work, in case I have to switch gears.
I'm feeling pretty good about the program. I haven't had a soda all week - which is very unusual for me. I have had a couple of sweet teas, but I've stuck mostly to water. My goal for next week is to cut way back on my morning coffee. I normally get a large and I've switched to medium. Next week, it will be only small and eventually maybe I can give it up.

It's Day 2 and I'm Already Behind
Ok, so I ate like crap, didn't do my bible reading, but I did make it to my workout. I felt pretty good during the workout, not that ready-to-pass-out feeling I ususally have the first day of boot camp. I was pretty exhausted by the time I got home though - I guess it caught up with me.
I pulled out something to eat, which happened to be a bag of honey bbq wings. I cooked the entire bag and luckily my husband was there to eat most of them. I ended up only eating 3 and eating a whole bag of brussel sprouts (which I love). Later I went back and got an ice cream bar. For some reason, someone gave my husband 3 cases of ice cream bars! Grrrrr! I didn't even want it, I just remembere they were there. Luckily, I didn't think it tasted very good, so I probably won't go back for more.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be better!
